Throughout the development of threaded cartridge valves, through the formation, development and integration stage. The earliest threaded cartridge valve technology was established by the United States company SUN in 1970. SUN is still the world leader in this field of technological development. SUN’s threaded cartridge valve orifice is recognized as a unique standard worldwide.

This recognition is supported by the adoption of the 1998 ISO 7789 international standards. Additionally, the technology and reliability of SUN’s balance valve are among the most recognized products in the market. At the end of the 20th century, several well-known manufacturers of threaded cartridge valves emerged. Among them were the five major multinationals: Bosch Rexroth, Danfoss (including Eaton), Parker, Moog, and Kawasaki.
Several other companies were also notable in the field. For instance, prominent manufacturers in the United States included HydraForce, SUN, Fluid Power Systems, DeltaPower, Fluid Control, and Vickers-Modular Controls. Meanwhile, Vickers-Modular Controls also made a significant impact in the United Kingdom.
Additionally, notable manufacturers from other regions contributed to the field. From the United Kingdom, Vickers-Modular Controls was a key player. In Switzerland, companies such as Wandfluh, Bucher, and Frutigen were influential. Italy’s prominent manufacturers included Comatrol, Oil Control, and Walvoil. Germany’s significant players were IMAV, Tries, Fluid Team, HYDAC, and Hawe.
From the United Kingdom, Sterling and Integrated were key players. Switzerland’s significant manufacturers included Wandfluh, Bucher, and Frutigen. Italy saw important contributions from Comatrol, Oil Control, and Walvoil. Germany’s prominent companies included IMAV, Tries, Fluid Team, HYDAC, and Hawe.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the world’s hydraulic multinational enterprises set off a round of mergers and acquisitions of threaded cartridge valve companies, including Parker acquired Sterling; Bosch Rexroth acquired 0il Control; Eaton acquired Integrated; Danfoss acquired Comatrol, and Bucher acquired CCC (Command Control Co.). Danfoss acquired Comatrol and Bucher acquired CCC (Command Control Co.). Danfoss acquired Eaton in 2020 and HydraForce in 2022. According to data from around 2010, HydraForce achieved an annual production volume of up to 6 million units, ranking No. 1 in the world at that time. This volume equaled the combined annual production volume of all hydraulic parts in China in 2005.

In this stage, China’s threaded cartridge valve enterprises also experienced new developments. For example, Ningbo Haihong Hydraulic Parts Factory established itself as the first threaded cartridge valve factory in 1992, primarily supporting the pressure valve requirements for multi-way valves.
Subsequently, Ningbo Ketai Hydraulic Co., Ltd. emerged and achieved notable success in both domestic and foreign markets. They focused more on the research and development of solenoid valves and developed to a certain scale. In addition, other significant players such as Shandong Taifeng Intelligent Control Co., Ltd, Ningbo Huayi Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd, and Beijing Huade Hydraulic Industry Group Co. entered the market.
On a global scale, Danfoss, SUN, Parker, and Bosch Rexroth dominated the market for threaded cartridge valves in 2021. These companies represented the first echelon of manufacturers. Meanwhile, the second echelon manufacturers included Bucher, Moog, and Herdecker, among others.
