1、Classification characteristics
According to the traditional classification of hydraulic valves, due to its control function or control parameters are divided into three categories of pressure control valves, flow control valves and directional control valves. Threaded cartridge valves are not constrained by their own standard valve body. In addition to the three major categories of valves, many new valve functions and classification have emerged. These new valve functions are either weak or entirely lacking in plate valves and stacked valves.
1) Load control valves: Pilot operated check valves, counterbalance valves.
2) Motion control valves: shuttle valves, check valves, priority valves, speed safety valves (explosion-proof valves).
3) Electromagnetic directional valves come in various types. The cone valve type includes two-position two-way or two-position three-way directional valves, offering features such as cut-off, flow regulation, and additional overflow functions. The slide valve type provides two-position two-way configurations. It also offers two-position three-way configurations. These configurations are available in both normally closed and normally open types.
4) Logic control valve: the structure of the two-way cartridge valve is absorbed.

2、Structural characteristics
The structure type of threaded cartridge valves can be divided into five categories: integral, flange inserted, split, embedded, and red combined (see Table 26-91). The combined type is a mix of the above four categories. Therefore, it is not separately listed in the table. At present the integral type is the mainstream, occupying the vast majority of the market share. Split-type once as a speciality of some companies, but now tends to be less. Embedded type is a rare type, mostly used for small flow or in the size of the place is very limited. Combined type is the future of the hydraulic manufacturing companies and host applications can focus on the development of the type.
