Cannot be closed to hold pressure

This situation often occurs when you use a common solenoid valve (slide valve type) as a pilot valve in a hydraulic system. In this case, the cartridge unit may not hold pressure. This happens due to leakage from the common integrated hydraulics cartridge valves.

Solution: As shown in Figure 1, use a zero-leakage solenoid ball valve or an externally controlled pilot-operated check valve as the pilot valve.

Reverse opening can occur and prevent reliable closure

As shown in Figure 2, when you disconnect both IDT and 2DT in the hydraulic system, connect the control cavities X1 and X2 of the two cartridge units to the control oil. At this point, the two cartridge units should close. However, if the P chamber unloads or suddenly drops to a lower pressure while the A chamber still has a higher pressure, cartridge unit 1 may open. This can cause the A and P chambers to reverse their connection, making it impossible to close reliably. Since you connect the outlet of cartridge unit 2 to the oil tank, there is no problem of reverse opening.

Use of integrated hydraulics cartridge valves

Solution: Add a shuttle valve to the control oil line as shown in Figure 2(b) to ensure pressure in the upper chamber of the control oil line X1 and thus ensure reliable closure of cartridge unit 1.

You should note that reverse opening problems can also occur if contamination jams the shuttle valve or if the shuttle valve has poor sealing.
