After the hydraulic system has been installed and deemed qualified, it proceeds to the commissioning stage. During this phase, commissioning involves adjusting the system parameters and status to meet the design requirements. Once the commissioning process is complete, the hydraulic system is ready and can then be put into actual application for the project.
Typically, the host manufacturer carries out the hydraulic system piping installation and commissioning for walking equipment at the factory. Specifically, for large fixed equipment, the common practice involves performing pre-installation unit assembly. Subsequently, the manufacturer conducts local commissioning after shipment.
Subsequently, overall commissioning occurs at the user’s site. This on-site commissioning involves a series of steps and, furthermore, requires careful engineering management. Consequently, Figure 6-3 shows the general steps for commissioning.
1) Connect the three sources: ① power source, for fixed hydraulic equipment is the power supply, for construction machinery hydraulic host is the engine power source; ② control source, control power, bus local network or Ethernet Internet of Things; ③ cooling source, cooling water or cooling air source.

2) Use oil with the correct mark, using a filter to fill the tank. Be sure to check that the oil tank level meets the requirements before starting.
3)Fill the pump casing with oil as needed. Open the suction pipe shut-off valve.
4)Adjust the pressure control valve, flow control valve and variable pump pressure regulator to a low setting first. Place the directional control valve in the centre position.
5)You should inflate accumulators to meet the design requirements. The filling pressure of the accumulator used for capacity storage should be 0.8~0.9 times of the lowest working pressure of the system, but not less than 25% of the highest working pressure of the system; the filling pressure of the accumulator used for absorbing pressure shocks and pulsations should be 0.5~0.8 times of the rated pressure of the accumulator circuit.
6) Tap the driving motor or make the internal combustion engine rest speed, check the direction of rotation.
7) Vent the hydraulic system at the highest possible point. Loosen the bleeder plug or pipe fitting. Operate the directional valve and extend and retract the actuator several times. Slowly increase the load and raise the setting of the pressure valve. When you no longer see foam in the tank, the actuator stops crawling, and the system no longer produces abnormal noise, you can confirm that the bleeder is functioning properly. At this point, tighten the bleeder valve.
8) Replenish the oil to the tank’s lowest level mark when the pipeline is full of oil and all the actuators are outstretched.
9) Run the machine together. Gradually increase the setting value. Adjust the pressure valve, pressure relay, flow control valve, pump regulator, time relay, and other components according to design and process requirements. Allow the machine to run at full load for a few hours to monitor the steady state operating temperature.
10) Enquire about tightening bolts and connections to prevent leakage, clean or replace cartridges
